Got tired of knowing there were minor rust spots under the carpet, that a previous assclown of an owner had left the floorboards painted in primer only, and that said assclown replaced the original carpets with gold (wrong) donor carpets from a two door (wrong) that were kind of a fermented black in some places and faded to red (!) in others.

Yeah, eff that. Since I have not one damn idea what the original carpet color really was, my choice was to make the carpet the same as the vinyl and make it fawn/fawn/fawn or match one of the colors present in the wacky trim code deviation cloth on the seats as an accent. I think I chose correctly.

I’ve got new windlace to put in, too, but that will wait on the new headliner - at which time I’ll probably get some pimptastic “ Galaxie 500" embroidered mats as well. Then there’ll be the new front armrests, reskinning the sun visors, getting new chenille for the front seat...

I miss buying stuff for my car. If I were to have a do-over I’d probably skip the DIY Rhinoliner and get it Line-X coated for a better finish. The Rhinoliner is a PITA to clean out.

I hadn’t bought anything for the Galaxie in a while, but it’s worth trying to get it back near stock niceness, you know? As opportunity permits.

My Rover’s floorboards are just painted aluminum, so not hard to clean out, but they’re not exactly scratch resistant.

That was my idea behind the rhinoliner, otherwise it’s a painted metal Jeep floor and those always hold up well to rust >.>
